So, they didn't even show Lexa's death in the previews! (Although given the heat, perhaps that was judicious.)

I spent a fair amount of time yelling at Kane: he wasted all that effort, burned all those contacts, and failed in the end because he didn't want to hurt Bellamy? WTF, dude.

Also, I don't get why he never made it clear to Pike how completely outnumbered they are. They can never beat "the Grounders" by force of arms. There are always more Grounders, all over the continent, and Skaikru has, what, 1200 people? If that? Madness. They keep showing Pike as fairly rational, if a binary thinker: won't numbers mean anything?

That said, Raven! So awesome, Raven! And that in turn brought Jasper around. I was a little surprised that the B plot didn't intersect with the A plot, but I guess that's next week.

The end result, strategically, was much the same as the beginning, except now Kane & Sinclair are locked away with Lincoln. Which I guess means it's up to Monty & Bellamy to take action. Nice to see Monty having second thoughts! And Bellamy, too -- but seriously, guys, massacre-ing 300 people wasn't enough to give you second thoughts? What makes you uncomfortable is spying on your friends, and threatening your old boss?

That's not exactly a strong ethical code you got there, fellas. Clarke is going to have words for you.

failed in the end because he didn't want to hurt Bellamy? WTF, dude.

OMG So Much THIS. Hit the gas, man, Bellamy would have jumped out of the way. Or been maimed, whatever, at this point.

I am really looking forward to the fallout form Raven's discovery and decision.

Or the boys' episode. I watched this on Friday, and since I had a shit week, I didn't have the energy to comment much then.

One of the weaknesses of the Arkadia storyline for me is the lack of insight into Bellamy's head. I feel like I know where Kane is coming from just fine, maybe it's because I'm more with his point of view, but I think it's also we got to see him and Abby earlier in the season working on peace. We didn't get to see that with Bellamy really, and the Mouth Weather bombing wasn't enough. I don't know. The meta and handwaving works, but the lack of seeing it makes his story feel flat.

So. Basically what I loved about the main plotline here was Kane, Kane and Kane. Also Sinclair, Miller, and Harper wanting to go to town on Pike -- that was great. I'm glad we finally got to see Miller interacting with his boyfriend, but since they haven't had much screen time this season, it's still not quite there in terms of the emotional impact. (You know what would have emotional impact? Miller/Monty being on opposite sides. IJS ;) )

Anyway, back to the plot. I loved Kane's plan within a plan, and I was fairly, but not completely certain, that he wouldn't go with the obvious thing and just try to sabotage the jeep. The prison riot was nice, if only because it let off the pent up anger at this entire situation Pike has brought them too.

Kane reading while it went down, and Bellamy knowing he was up to something, but couldn't get him on it. Love.

So here's where Kane is an utter failure at coups. You have to commit dude. Either killing Pike outright, which I actually agree wouldn't have solved your problem of being able to take back power within camp, or running Bellamy over to get out the gate -- he would have jumped out of the way. Bellamy doesn't have a death wish.

But here's where we really needed more time at the beginning of the season to pull this story off -- Bellamy and Kane barely interacted on screen before Pike showed up they split sides. We didn't get to see the three months of Kane mentoring Bellamy into being one of his lieutenants. We didn't get the growth of their personal relationship, upon which this entire episode turns.

Kane can't risk killing or injuring Bellamy with the rover. Bellamy's last straw with Pike is Kane's execution sentence. That's the core relationship that decides everything and we were robbed of seeing it grow.

Wow. Okay, turns out I do have strong feelings about this episode after all. I think that's why, despite how much I liked this ep and what it builds up to, it felt kind go meh.

On a completely different note, Raven and Jaha conspiring is kind of hilarious. Not as hilarious as Murphy, but I do love seeing Raven with a mission.

Jasper and his love of terrible ideas -- show quit making me not detest Jasper. I actually liked him for a hot minute when he got Raven to question what the City of Light did to her memories.

Raven, oh Raven I love you so much. Her realization about having lost something important, her decision to do something about it! Love!

And Alie having no idea what to do with rejections.

Monty, I really hope the only reason you went along with Pike so long was because of your mom and your out of cope due to Jasper. I'm glad you finally started to question things, and you and Bellamy are now switching sides back. But dude, your mom totally knows what's up.
